Our Coonawarra 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is a cracker of a Cab Sav, at a bargain price!
You'd pay around $32.00 per bottle for this wine from retail outlets - that's $384.00 per dozen. We can beat that!
Made by a boutique Coonawarra winery, owned and run now by the 4th generation of a winemaking family. Their 8 hectares of Cabernet produces superb select fruit, which is fermented on skins to ensure maximum colour and flavour. Final barrel maturation of 18 months in predominantly French oak has created a superb red wine with great colour and tannin structure. It is a true evocation of the Coonawarra regional style of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Renowned wine critic James Halliday says "Clear red-purple; a blackcurrant bouquet with wisps of mint and earth is followed by a medium- to full-bodied palate delivering more of those classic Coonawarra Cabernet characters; the tannins are persistent, but fine, ripe and balanced.... 93/100."
This is a beautifully ageing Cabernet: medium to full-bodied, elegant, and with lingering tannins. The juicy acidity makes this a really food-friendly wine. It will cellar well for a further 10-15 years.
